Yesterday, Cassie tried to pick up her iguana just as the dog came into the room. Having never seen a dog before, the iguana wasn't real thrilled and managed to bite Cassie's thumb. Today she has red streaks the entire way up her arm and her thumb is quite swollen. So...off to the doctor's we go..on a Sunday. My favorite.
A nice shot in the but, antibiotics and lortab and we are back home again. We had to talk to the animal control officer because they have to report any animal bites. Now Iggy has a record.
Tomorrow we have to go back so they can see if it has gotten any worse or not. If it has, they will probably operate to open up the thumb, clean it out good and re-wrap it. All form an iguana bite. Weird.

While at the doctor's, Aaron was trying to lay down for a much needed nap. However, Olivia called me asking if she could have a piece of leftover birthday cake and let me know that the girls were all outside trying to catch a leaves on fire. I asked her to go get her father up. He sent Nina's friend home and children to their rooms and was not happy to be woken up in that manner. Do you ever just shake your head and go...what were they thinking. Oh yeah, they weren't!

Today was incredibly busy as we tried to prepare for Cassie's 16th birthday party. First Aaron got up very early to get supplies to build a huge cage for a huge iguana named Iggy. Iggy is about 4 feet long and is way cool. She is enjoying the cage and all the attention,but she hasn't actually met the dog yet. At any rate, while at Lowes, Aaron was trying to figure out how a specific staple gun worked and managed to staple his hand. He was happy that no one seemed to notice his pain, but wondered why the heck they had a loaded staple gun in the the displays. I have to say that I was not very sympathetic and laughed for quite a while at his expense.

After building the cage Aaron and I enjoyed all the kids being at school and went to lunch. Moments like those are more frequent now that the kids are older and I genuinely appreciate them.

We then journeyed to the school to pick up the Iguana, then hurried home to give her to Cassie. Cassie was ecstatic! It is so nice when you can give your kids something that they really want that is not too expensive and makes them happy.

We then went to town to pick up a present from my mother for Cassie, stop at the pet store to get iguana vitamins, then went to walmart to pick up all the new glasses. we have a great new vision plan, It pays a whole $5 for lenses. Nice. Finally, we picked up our dog! Yay! He is not totally fixed yet as he has not run or knocked anyone down in his excitement, but we are so glad to have him home. The vet bill was only $1300. Ouch! We are definitely going to have to do a fundraiser or something. Many would say we are nuts, but I simply could not have him put down if there was any way to keep him. So, furnace...you will have to wait a little while. I guess the dog can sleep next to us and keep us warm.

Finally, after about 30 minutes at home, we all went to the local Fun Park for pizza, cake and cosmic bowling. The adults were more than ready to come home, but the kids had a great time. Sometimes birthday parties can be a bummer, but Cassie seemed to really enjoy it and she had abut 15 friends show up. She is so grown up. I feel her slipping through my fingers. It is like she is already gone sometimes, she is so focused on going to college and becoming a vet and marrying a returned missionary. She is determined and has known what she wants since the day she was born. I am so thankful for the chance that I have had to learn from being her mother. I will always remember holding my first child as she snuggled close to me after birth, her first smile, her first laugh, her first step...she never actually crawled, first word...dad of course, there are too many firsts. I just hope that I can make through all the lasts.

Wow, my very own place to rant!

I have thought a lot about starting my own blog, but always thought that no one would be interested enough in what I have to say. I have now decided to write this because if I don't write it all down, I'll never remember it and most people will not believe any of what I write anyway.\

For those who don't know, My husband Aaron and I have six beautiful daughters, 2 cats, a dog, 3 gerbils and will be adding something else soon, but i cant say cause it's a birthday surprise!
We met in Pennsylvania and have lived in Texas, California, Okinawa Japan, and Utah. We lived in Smithfield for 5 years, moved to Pennsylvania for five, then moved back to Smithfield. What can we say, we love it here.

Our life is rarely sane or organized, no matter how hard I try. For instance...
My oldest child turns 16 on Saturday. Someone cheated. I can not possibly be this old. We are having a bowling party on Friday, then a family party on Saturday. The family dog is currently a guest of the local vets office because he seems to like eating things like hair coloring gloves. After a surgery and a few days, he is still not doing great. They had to put a tube down his throat today to clear out the air in his stomach. Poor guy. The unfortunate thing is that the vet says that it rarely teaches them to watch what they chew.

My second grader had a patriotic program today and my kindergartner refuses to wear the patch on her eye as the opthamologist says she has to wear. My 14 year old hurt her knee and my 8 year old desperately needs a nap.

I just finished my masters degree in Elementary education and am substituting for various school districts in Cache Valley. In between teaching, I am trying to help my brother get his business off the ground since he just moved from Las Vegas to Logan. Life is always busy, rarely dull or repetitive. Some say I should be thankful for that. I say I need a nap!

Oh well, I guess tomorrow is another day. Who knows what it will bring?!!
